There is no more conversation about whether we are in a recession or not.  The conversation is more like:  How did we get here?  Why didn’t we recognize it sooner?  And how and when will we get out of this recession? 

It happens every single time there is trouble in the economy or in life.  Someone is willing to exploit people who are vulnerable.  Be extremely careful of any one who makes fantastic claims or promises about having all the answers that are going to solve all of your business problems.  No question that there are many great business consultants and advisors who can help you.  But unfortunately, there are just as many who would like nothing more than to take your money.  This is the time to go back to basics.  Evaluate your business from top to bottom.  Put sound business practices in place.  You’ve heard this over and over again but if someone is offering to help you, they have the latest “process” and their claims sound too good to be true they probably are. 

As they use to say in the opening scene of the well-known TV series, Hill Street Blues, “Be careful out there.”
