CEOs, Presidents, Business Owners: What’s Your Work Ethic?

In Tuesday’s post we talked about employee work ethics. But what about your work ethics?  What do you do all day?  Are you the first one at the business in the morning?  Are you the last to leave the business at night?  Do you take two hour lunches?  Do you treat your employees with respect and understand how they are the representatives of your business to your customers?  Do you set business goals for yourself?  Do you make it a point to talk with your key management people but also talk with your production and sales people on a regular basis?  Employees need to be led by strong leaders.  Employees follow strong business leaders and want to be productive for them.  The best employee will perform poorly with poor leadership.  Evaluate what kind of business leader you are.  Evaluate what your business style and business motivation is.  If you are not getting what you want from your business and your employees, look to yourself to make a change as well as in your style of management.  Find examples of companies that are run well and leaders you admire.  Take the qualities that fit best with your business and pattern yourself after their examples.
